Networking FAQ
This document addresses frequently-asked-questions about home
networking.
Although networking technology has existed for some time, only recently
has the industry developed and adapted new standards which work
in favour of the average home user. A home network is cost-effective and easy
to implement into any setting.
Q) Why
would I want a Home Network?
A) Use a network in
your home to:
- Share Internet access,
printers and hard drives
- Download music and
video to shared devices
- Communicate with the
family
- Play games on your
network
- Synchronize devices
such as Cameras and PDAs
The features of a
home
network can make life easier and
save you money.
Q) Will there be wires
everywhere?
A) Under typical indoor conditions,
our technicians are able to hide or disguise the wiring underneath
baseboards, carpets, etc. Some conditions may exist where cable may be
visible. You may want to consider the advantages of a
wireless network.
Q) What is the fastest
transfer rate of a home network?
A) The average networking equipment
allows for data transfer rates of 10 or 100 Mbps.
Q) What
is the cost of a wireless vs. wired network?
A) A wireless network is more
expensive. Exactly how much will depend on your exact setup; how many
computers you connect, etc. Please contact
us for exact pricing information.
Q) How many devices
can I connect to my Network?
A) Depending on the setup of your
equipment, this number is virtually unlimited!
