Networking FAQ
This document addresses frequently-asked-questions about business
networking.
Although networking technology has existed for some time, only very recently
has the industry developed and adapted new standards which work
in favor of the average home user.
The advantages of a home network make themselves obvious, and is easy
to implement into any setting.
Q) Why
would I want an Office Network?
A) Use a network at your place of
business to:
- Allow users or guests
to connect to the internet
- Permit
synchronization between devices such as laptops, desktops and PDAs
- Share printers, files
and resources
- Communicate with
coworkers or associates
The features of an office
network can make life easier and
save you money.
Q) Will there be wires
everywhere?
A) Under typical indoor conditions,
our technicians are able to hide or disguise the wiring underneath
baseboards, carpets, etc. Some conditions may exist where cable may be
visible. You may want to consider the advantages of a
wireless network.
Q) What is the fastest
transfer rate of a business network?
A) The average networking equipment
allows for data transfer rates of 10 or 100 Mbps. However, due to
recent advances in technology, the cost of gigabit (1000Mbps)
equipment is now very attractive to business users who require above
average bandwidth in their network.
Q) What
is the cost of a wireless vs. wired network?
A) A wireless network is more
expensive, but sometimes only marginally. This will depend on your exact setup; how many
computers you connect, etc. Please
